Sivan Battat (she/they) is an artist & organizer based in New York City. Sivan’s work is across genres - in the theatre, in community, in ritual celebration, and beyond & seeks to make deeply individual stories into universal ones, helping us understand how our liberation is, and will always be, collectively bound.

Sivan is the Director of New Work Development at Noor Theatre Company, an Obie-winning company dedicated to supporting, developing and producing the work of theatre artists of Middle Eastern descent.

Sivan has developed new works and reimagined classics with companies including Roundabout, NYTW, the Atlantic, Ars Nova, National Queer Theatre, New Georges, Goodman, Victory Gardens, New York Stage & Film, MCC and more. Recent credits include: Wish You Were Here by Sanaz Toossi at Yale Repertory Theatre (New Haven), Layalina by Martin Yousif Zebari at the Goodman Theatre (Chicago), Heroes of the Fourth Turning by Will Arbery at Studio Theatre (Washington DC), and Brass Knuckles by Yussef el Guindi at Ensemble Studio Theatre (NYC).

Fellowships include: Roundabout Theatre Company Directing Fellowship, TCG’s Rising Leaders of Color Cohort, the Leo Shull Musical Directing Fellowship with the Drama League, The Workshop JOCSM Arts Fellowship, The Dorot Fellowship, and the LABA Fellowship with the 14th St. Y.
